Danai Fassouli Portfolio

Danai was born in Athens, Greece, and is currently based in London, UK. Initially coming from the interior design field her work is inspired by nature, culture, ancient architecture, and philosophy. A stone from a Greek beach under an ancient temple, that has spoken to her, always triggers her to interpret a place providing a different kind of documentary. Different places give her natural materials, like rocks and stones or wood, which she incorporates in her art and especially in this new collection called "Aegean". A collection of 40 paintings, big and small that depict her own chronicle of the Aegean Pelago.

See below the sample of 10 paintings

Danai's preferred medium is oil and natural materials on canvas. In "Aegean" she uses a combination of oil/acrylic/chalk along with the natural materials from each island that inspired her.

…. Interpretation of space and culture through her own eyes is the main interest of the artist. Apart from painting she also uses photography. Specifically, she walks on long trails and distances and captures their spirituality, the architecture, and the culture thriving on her way. Her first "trail" work was in 2013 when she walked (775km) the "Camino de Santigo de Compostela" and created a photographic book and a story (The Story of a Never-Ending Way). With this collection, she exhibited in Greece in a solo exhibition and a different book presentation; she took part in BCN, Barcelona, and exhibited in Brick Lane Gallery, London (2015)…

The "Agean" Collection is the artist's current "trail" work.
